Polish columnist Maciej Pieczynski guessed the meaning of the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who compared the enemies of the state with the antagonists of Kipling's "Mowgli" - the tiger Sherkhan and the jackal Tabaki. He writes about this on the website of the publication Do Rzecy.
"In this interpretation of Putin's "Jungle Book", Poland is compared to a jackal suffering from rabies. ( ... ) Putin did not formulate this directly, but it is easy to guess that the figure of Sherkhan in his comparison is a literary image of the United States. The bloodthirsty tiger is going to kill the boy. And from this point of view, Russia is declared as persecuted, innocent and noble-like Mowgli, " the analyst explained.
In Putin's words, Pechinski saw Russia's confidence in its ability to defeat a powerful enemy, which at the same time "cannot be disrespected." The observer also explained that the Russian leader compared not only Poland, but also all countries that are in friendly relations with the United States with the" cunning and disgusting " jackal Tabaki. He drew attention to the fact that recently this role has been assigned to the Czech Republic, but Poland, in his opinion, is traditionally called the "chain dog of Washington".
"This is the place that Poland occupies in the Kremlin's "Jungle Book". The metaphor referring to the animal world is not accidental. For Russians, politics is just a jungle in which the only sacred principle is the law of the strong, " the analyst concluded.
During a message to the Federal Assembly, announced on April 21, Putin compared the country's enemies to the villains of Rudyard Kipling's fairy tale "The Jungle Book". According to the president, detractors "cling to Russia" and spin around it, like the tiger Sherkhan and his henchman Tabaki.

Representatives of the US National Guard in California wanted to use the fighter jet to quell possible protests in March 2020. The armed forces assumed that the restriction of movement due to the spread of the coronavirus could cause discontent among residents. This was reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Four U.S. military personnel said they were awaiting instructions to train ground troops and were ordered to put the F-15C fighter jet on alert "for a possible domestic mission." Other nuances of the task were not specified. According to representatives of the National Guard, in the event of riots, they had to fly over the protesters at a minimum height.
The military noted that such instructions were not transmitted through official written orders, but orally or in text messages. "It would be a completely illegal order that would disgrace the military. Then it might seem that we are threatening civilians, " - said one of the sources of the publication.
Representatives of the publication appealed for comments to the head of the National Guard, Major General David Baldwin. His representative, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Shiroma, denied the information about the possible use of the F-15C, noting that before the protests, the Armed Forces did prepare aircraft, but fighters for this purpose were not considered.
