Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople was hospitalized at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington. This is reported by the publication "Ethnikos Kirikas".
The Patriarch was hospitalized during his 12-day visit to the United States. It is noted that he felt unwell due to fatigue from a long journey and the program of events.
In August, Patriarch Bartholomew came to Ukraine to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the country's independence, ignoring the protests of the majority of canonical Orthodox believers. His visit turned into protests by parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), who condemned the cleric for recognizing Ukrainian schismatics and accused him of seizing churches of the UOC.
