The European Union (EU) has expanded the sanctions list due to the entry of Crimea into Russia and included eight more Russian citizens in it. A message about this is published on the website of the EU Council.

"The EU Council believes that these eight people should be included in the list of persons, structures and bodies against whom restrictive measures have been imposed for their role in undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine," the statement said.

Earlier, the EU Council extended personal sanctions against Russian citizens for the use and proliferation of chemical weapons for one year. Restrictive measures will be in effect until October 16, 2022. They target 15 individuals and two organizations. Those who are under sanctions are prohibited from traveling to EU countries, as well as their assets in the EU are frozen.
