Representatives of opposition parties in the Czech Republic called for the dismissal of Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Jan Gamacek after the media reported that he allegedly bargained with Russia, wanting to get free supplies of the vaccine against the coronavirus "Sputnik V" in exchange for refusing to publish on the topic of the explosions in Vrbetice. "Gamacek is seriously suspected of wanting to sell our national security for a million doses of an unapproved (EU) vaccine. It is unbelievable to jeopardize our security and credibility in such a way and to stoop to such disgusting bargaining, " said Jan Fiala, leader of the opposition Civic Democratic Party, calling on the minister to resign immediately.
A similar opinion was expressed by the leader of the Christian Democrats, Marian Jurechka, who noted that he would insist on calling a closed session of the parliament, where the heads of all the country's special services would speak. The leader of the movement "Starosty and Independents" Vit Rakushan, in turn, said that Gamachek's actions are a clear demonstration of the general policy of the entire government of the republic.
Earlier, a number of media outlets reported that in mid-April, Gamacek intended to "hush up" the scandal with the explosions at the ammunition depots in Vrbetice in exchange for the Sputnik V party, as well as Moscow's consent to the meeting of Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden in Prague. At the same time, the Czech Interior Minister himself called such reports speculation and denied them.
The Czech Republic accuses Russian security services of involvement in the explosions at an ammunition depot in Vrbetice on October 16, 2014, which killed two people. Then, presumably, ten thousand kilograms of ammunition, including medium-range missiles, exploded. According to the Prague version, the day before the explosion of the warehouse, there were Russians Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, whom the UK accuses of trying to poison former GRU agent Sergei Skripal.
