As of 1920, GMC and Chevrolet shared the same platform, and both brands building variants which would use almost identical bodies, less the grille, and badges. However, below the shell, GMC used different engines. The main target of the brand was commercial users which required longer-lasting units and large towing and carrying capacities, while Chevrolet aimed its trucks toward private buyers.
