The popularity of US President Joe Biden during his nine months in office has fallen more than the rating of any other leader of the country since the Second World War. This is reported by The Telegraph with reference to the results of research by the American Institute of Public Opinion Gallup.
In particular, Biden's presidential rating dropped by 11.3 percentage points — from 56 percent to 44.7 percent. In addition, currently only 34 percent of independent voters approve of his work. In June, this figure was 55 percent.
Prior to that, the owner of a record drop in the rating was Barack Obama, who lost 10.1 percentage points in nine months.
Experts explain the decline in Biden's popularity by the population's distrust of his ability to cope with the coronavirus pandemic, the decision to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan. However, experts cited economic problems in the country as the main reason. This is confirmed by a Fox News poll published earlier, according to which 53 percent of voters said they were very concerned about inflation and rising prices.
In September, White House press Secretary Jen Psaki attributed Biden's drop in ratings to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, she stressed that the American president's team is still determined to promote his agenda and improve the lives of the country's citizens.
