Police in Jamaica have arrested a priest who declared himself a prophet, Kevin Smith, on suspicion of murdering two people. This is reported by the Jamaica Observer.
Together with the cleric, 41 of his followers were detained. According to investigators, Smith performed a ritual of human sacrifice during the Sunday service, cutting the throat of a 39-year-old woman and an unknown man. Thus he "delivered their bodies from the "unclean" blood."
Before the murder, he announced that he would "lead them to salvation in Noah's Ark," ordered his flock to put on white clothes and wrap smartphones with foil.
Three more people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Another parishioner opened fire on the guards during the appearance of the police and was destroyed by return fire. Several other potential victims were also found in the church, including naked men and animals lined up in a row.
