Ukraine does not stop trying to get modern weapons from Germany, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeinen Sonntagszeitung (FAS) reports. He is quoted by RIA Novosti. Kiev has already vainly asked Berlin for second-hand German corvettes, it became known from the publication.
Ukraine, according to the publication, wants to strengthen the protection of the "Black Sea coast from invasion". We are talking about weapons for air defense and equipment for mine clearance.
According to the head of the Bundestag Committee on foreign Policy, Norbert Roettgen, it would be wrong to refuse Ukraine in this matter, since Russia can allegedly " threaten the country with war." At the same time, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is openly resisting in this regard.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the situation in the east of Ukraine causes her concern.
At the end of March, another escalation of the conflict began in the Donbas. Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) accuse each other of increasing shelling, conducting reconnaissance operations and moving military equipment.
