The European Union has recommended that its member countries restore restrictions related to the coronavirus and ban the entry of tourists from the United States and five other countries. This is reported by CNN.
In addition to the United States, Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and North Macedonia also got on the stop list. As the TV channel notes, these recommendations are not mandatory. This means that each EU member state must determine whether to allow fully vaccinated travelers to travel to the EU for non-essential reasons.
In recent weeks, the number of cases of coronavirus has increased in the United States, as the highly infectious Delta strain is spreading among unvaccinated Americans. Anthony Fauci, the US chief national expert on infectious diseases, noted that the situation in the country is expected, while it can be changed "effectively and quickly" if people start getting vaccinated.
Earlier it was reported that a sharp increase in the number of cases of the "delta"strain of coronavirus in the United States caused a shortage of equipment and materials necessary to fight the virus. As of August 30, more than 39.72 million cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in the country.
