Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi spoke about expectations for Russian gas supplies. His words are transmitted by RIA Novosti.
According to Draghi, Italy does not expect a reduction in gas supplies from Russia. He called the demand for payment in rubles a violation of contracts, since they provide for settlements only in euros and dollars. The European Commission will consider the legal aspects of the situation, he said.
On March 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Europe should pay for gas in Russian rubles. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that Moscow will continue to supply in accordance with the terms of the contracts. Only the currency will change.
