The conspirators who were preparing a coup in Belarus considered several scenarios for the assassination of the President of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko. They were revealed by the Belarusian leader himself in an interview with journalists, BELTA quotes him as saying on Saturday, April 24.
According to Lukashenko, the conspirators initially planned to eliminate him during the Victory Day parade on May 9, but were forced to abandon this plan due to the complexity of its implementation. The option of attacking the presidential motorcade was also considered — for this, the participants in the preparation of the coup even bought grenade launchers. But, the Belarusian leader noted, this idea was also unsuccessful: the motorcade cars always move at high speed for safety reasons, so it is quite difficult to get into them.
The third scenario assumed an armed attack on the country residence of Lukashenko. It was supposed to allocate $ 10 million for the destruction of the residence itself, and another $ 1 million was to be received by the sniper who was supposed to shoot the Belarusian president.
At the same time, Lukashenko stressed that he knew about all these plans in advance. "We controlled their every move," he said.
On April 17, Lukashenko said that an assassination attempt was planned on him and his children. According to the head of state, the task of eliminating the problem was approved by the top leadership of the United States.
Later, the Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed the information about the attempted military coup. In Russia, Yuri Zyankovich, who has dual citizenship of the United States and Belarus, and Alexander Feduta, a citizen of Belarus, were detained, who planned to carry out a coup according to the scenario of color revolutions with the involvement of local and Ukrainian nationalists.
